Bret Aker, Managing Director
Aker Wade Founding Principal Bret Aker has spent the last decade promoting electric vehicle fast charging technology across the globe. Under his guidance, Aker Wade has risen to the number one position in the North American industrial market. Prior to founding Aker Wade, Bret spent the ’90s in Japan, obtaining his MBA and working in the semiconductor industry developing new markets for U.S. technologies. One constant throughout his career has been his work on modeling software to understand how technology can be applied to solve customer problems. At Aker Wade he has spearheaded the development of industry-first models to visualize the operational, financial and ecological performance of different motive power technologies, adding value to the customer’s decision making process with real data.
John Aker, Chief Technology Officer
John is CTO and Founding Principal of Aker Wade. Prior to founding the company, John served at Cableform Inc., where he developed microprocessor-controlled IGBT and MOSFET drive systems for rail locomotives, mining equipment, and other electric vehicles. His professional experience began at Teledyne Avionics where he designed avionics currently in use on F-14, F-15, and F-16 fighter jets. He has held leadership positions at Sperry Marine, National Optronics and IIHS Vehicle Research Center, where he developed advanced control technologies for marine, commercial and testing applications.
Bryan Norris, Director of Customer Solutions
Bryan draws on more than 14 years of experience in sales, service and technical roles at Aker Wade. During this time, he developed metrics for improving all aspects of customer service, implemented a database for tracking cases, collaborated with engineering to develop and verify design changes and oversaw recruiting and training of the customer service team. In his current role, Bryan leverages his experience to solve complex installation and usage challenges for customers in North America. He also manages the relationship with Aker Wade’s North American distributor, EnerSys, on the east coast.
Lance Asouline, Director of Operations
Lance has more than 30 years in industrial distribution and manufacturing and has been with Aker Wade since 2002. After serving in the United States Navy, his career started in aerospace manufacturing, where he helped develop temperature sensing products for Detroit Diesel Allison Gas Turbine division. In a later role as purchasing manager for a major industrial distributor, he was responsible for contract pricing and managing inventory for resale to major aerospace companies. Lance and his team ensure our products flow efficiently through the manufacturing process while maintaining the highest quality levels.
John McGrath, Director of Finance and Administration
John has more than three decades of experience in financial management, serving as corporate controller and general accounting manager at multinational manufacturing organizations with sales between $80 million and $300 million. In addition to finance, John played an integral role in developing Aker Wade’s human resources department and streamlining operations through the implementation of technology.
Jim Wade, Lead Hardware Designer
A principal and founding partner, Jim brings 25 years of power electronics experience to Aker Wade. Today, Mr. Wade focuses on firmware and hardware design, with emphasis on DSP microprocessors and associated analog and digital electronic circuit design, computer-based multiple-layer design of microprocessor and power PCBs, and design of embedded wireless communication interfaces. His background includes positions at ITT Avionics Division, Sperry Marine, Cableform, A-Systems, Inc. and a tour of duty with the United State Marine Corps. He holds a BSEE from Old Dominion University.
